DVD VIDEO

New generation DVD video players (similar to VHS players) are required to play DVD Video. The players connect to your TV and play video movies similar to the ones currently available for sale or hire on videotape. Most of these players are able to play CD audio discs but are not able to play DVD-Rom discs.

The features of DVD Video which highlight its superiority to current video, are:
Approximately 135 to 484 minutes of high quality video (at better than VHS or S-VHS quality) will fit on a single disc.
8 spoken languages, 32 subtitle languages, 6 channel digital sound.
Video can be displayed in full screen 4:3, letterbox or 16:9 widescreen versions.
Parental lock out features can be incorporated, allowing parents to control their childrens viewing habit.

DVD ROM

DVD-Rom is a high capacity data storage medium similar to CD-Rom. There are two main types available. One type is the dual layer-one sided, holding up to a total of 8.5 Gb. Another version has two sides each holding 4.7 Gb per side, totalling 9.4 Gb. However this requires the disc to be manually turned over to play the second side.
